Peace & Protective Orders

Peace and Protective Orders are issued to protect one party (the petitioner) from acts committed by another party (the respondent). The nature of the relationship between the two parties is the determining factor between filing for a Peace or a Protective Order. Only one can be filed. The experienced attorneys at Alperstein & Diener can help you determine which order is the best for your situation.

Protective Orders are typically sought when the parties involved have previously been, or are currently, in a relationship that is domestic in nature. If you are a previous or current spouse, are related by blood, have had or currently have a sexual relationship or are residing with the respondent, you are eligible to file for a Protective Order.

If the above specification does not describe the relationship that you have with the respondent, then you are eligible to file for a Peace Order.

The civil litigation attorneys at Alperstein & Diener can help you make sense of your rights in situations such as harassment, bodily harm, abuse, stalking, cyber stalking, electronic/social media harassment and/or destruction of property.
