Arthur S. Alperstein, a founding partner of Alperstein & Diener, P.C., has been recognized as one of the “Top Attorneys in Maryland” in 2008. Mr. Alperstein graduated from Western Maryland College with a B.A. degree in 1962 and received his Juris Doctor from the University Of Maryland School Of Law in 1965. He was admitted to practice in Maryland and the U.S. District Court, District of Maryland in 1967 and was admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1988.

Mr. Alperstein hails from Baltimore, Maryland and has devoted his life to practicing law in the State of Maryland. He began his legal career in the State's Attorney Office in Baltimore City as an Assistant State’s Attorney, and served in this capacity from 1968 to 1970. Well-respected and active in political circles, he went on to serve as a Member of the Maryland State Legislature from 1974 to 1986. Within the legislature he served as Chairman of the Motor Vehicle Law Committee from 1978 to 1986, as Vice Chair Judiciary Committee from 1994 to present, and as Commissioner for the Maryland Trial Court Judicial Nomination Committee.

Mr. Alperstein has numerous professional memberships and has held executive positions within these associations, which include the Bar Association of Baltimore City where he held the position of Member of the Executive Council, serving on the Committees of the Judiciary from 1989 to present; as Chair of the Judicial Administration Committee from 2000 to 2003; and on the Criminal Law Committee.

In addition, Mr. Alperstein is a Member of the Baltimore County and American Bar Associations; the Maryland State Bar Association, Inc.; the Maryland Criminal Defense Attorneys Association, where he served as Member of the Board of Directors; the American Trial Lawyers Association; the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association; the National Defense Attorneys Association; and the American Judicature Society.
